Gas measurements
Measured gas for MERKI keyhold operations on the ERC-4337 EntryPoint v0.7: a transfer, a first operation with deployment, and the verifier alone.
| Measurement | Gas |
|---|---|
| ETH transfer from a deployed keyhold (handleOps) | 182,501 |
| First operation: deploy the keyhold and send ETH | 312,652 |
| Hash-chain verifier alone, one signature | 105,984 |
Method
Measured in the Foundry tests (forge test --match-test Gas -vv) with solc 0.8.28, optimizer 1,000 runs, against EntryPoint v0.7 compiled from its v0.7.0 sources. The numbers are execution gas inside the call. A real transaction adds the 21,000 base cost and calldata, which for a 2,209-byte signature is the larger part on Robinhood Chain, because the chain charges for posting data to its parent chain.
Why it costs more
An ordinary signature check costs a few thousand gas. Verifying a Winternitz signature means up to 1,005 Keccak calls plus the final hash over 2,176 bytes, and the signature itself is large. Larger Winternitz parameters or proof-based compression could lower both; they are listed in Later ideas.
These are measurements, not fee quotes. Fees depend on the gas price, the data price and what the operation does.
